Private lessons are available for the summer session, which begins on June 19, 2018.
In addition to private lessons, the following camps and workshops will be offered this summer:
SUMMER VOICES INTENSIVE VOCAL CAMP
July 23 – 27, 2018; 10AM – 3PM
Final performance Saturday, July 28
Youth ages 10 – 17 receive daily private lessons and participate in daily workshops and group singing. Campers will learn proper vocal techniques, ear training, and musicianship, and will be empowered to use music and the voice as a positive and productive outlet. This camp is an opportunity to participate in a positive, supportive environment with a group of peers from different backgrounds within the greater Springfield area.

- Wednesday: Chris Capaldi – Ear Training and Rhythm
- Thursday: Liz Simmons – Cultivating a Life in Music
- Friday: Annie Lynch Stevenson – “Open Mic”: Individual Performance Technique – each student will rehearse their solo piece for the group, learn about microphone technique, learn how to calm performance jitters, and gain effective communication skills with accompanist(s)

Prelude camps begin June 18 and end August 10 and are open to children ages 3 – 6.
Students may register for individual weeks or for the entire 8 weeks of the summer program.

Session III: July 2 – 6: Bucket Drumming with percussionist Rick Marshall (4 days only – Closed Weds, July 4th)

SONIDO MUSICA CAMPS
Sonido Elementary Strings Camp: June 25 – 29; 9AM – 3PM at CMSS
Sonido Middle School Band and Strings Camp: July 9 – 13; 10AM – 3PM at CMSS
Camp tuition is $50 for Sonido Musica students.
For all others, tuition is $200 + $10 registration fee.

JAZZ AND BLUES IMPROV WEEK
Community Music School of Springfield will host a week of learning the art of jazz and blues improvisation, July 16-20 from 9am-3pm. CMSS jazz faculty members will coach musicians ages 12-18 to create, arrange and collaborate on songwriting, culminating in and end-of-the-week jam session. All skill levels will be considered.
At this camp you can look forward to learning:
Collaboration with peers and faculty
Thinking/playing on your feet
Song and lyric writing and arrangement
History of music
All different types of jazz and blues music as well as other genres
Stage presence/self confidence building
Different rhythms and time signatures
Individual instruction in your instrument
$400 plus $10 registration fee for the week
