GIFTS OF STOCK OR OTHER SECURITIES
By transferring stock to CMSS, rather than selling it, you can avoid paying some or all capital gains taxes and reduce your taxable income.
Many workplaces will honor employee philanthropy by matching individual charitable donations made by their employees. It is a great way to increase the impact of your support.
CMSS will gratefully accept donations of instruments in working order, office supplies, classroom furniture, art supplies and more on a case by case basis. For information regarding tax deductions and acknowledgments for In Kind gifts, please see IRS publication 1771 (pdf). Please note that if you require a valuation for your donation, you should seek an official appraisal prior to contacting CMSS, as recipients are prohibited from providing a valuation.
Leaving a legacy is an invaluable way of supporting the school. Planned gifts can include bequests through a will, charitable remainder trusts and other estate transfers. CMSS is grateful to those generous individuals who have chosen to include the Music School in their estate plans. We would be pleased to know about those intentions in advance so that we may acknowledge their generosity.
Parents are always welcome to volunteer in our classrooms at Prelude. We also appreciate your help with Community Music School of Springfield special events. There are many volunteer opportunities ranging from helping with student recitals as hosts/hostesses to assisting with fund-raising activities.
You are now able to register for private lessons and classes, manage your account with CMSS, and more. It is our hope that this new process will ease the process of registration, payment, and billing for you and all the members of our community.
If you would like to take advantage of our early bird discount which waives the 2019-2020 registration fee of $50, you must re-register online with the new ASAP system before May 20th. Creating an account with ASAP in April will also earn families 5 entries in our “Share the Love of CMSS” raffle for a chance to win a free year of lessons!
We are committed to helping families through this transition to an online-based registration system. If you would like to use one of our computers or would like one of our registration team members to assist you in re-registering for fall 2019, please feel free to call us or visit CMSS at your convenience Monday-Thursday 8am-8pm, or Friday 8am-7pm.
